NOVEMBER
2009
Hello
As we near Thanksgiving and the end of the year, we cannot
express how grateful we are to all of you for the time and money
you have given this year in growing the mission of Susie's Cause
and spreading awareness about colon cancer.
We
are growing in numbers, thanks to you, and
because of your compassionate efforts, we are making great
strides in moving our organization forward. It amazes, and
humbles, me to see how much support we have received just in the
past few months through our newsletters, social media, and event
fundraisers that have been crucial to getting the word out,
raising money, educating people about colon cancer detection and
prevention, and sharing stories with one another.
Every story that is shared, every screening that is received,
every dollar that is given… helps us get closer to
eradicating this dreadful disease.
We thank you so graciously for sharing in this cause
with us with committed effort and generosity, helping us
continue in our mission to fight colon cancer in loving memory
of Susan Cohan.
Thank you for your committed support and compassion for our
organization.
Have a healthy and wonderful Thanksgiving!
Robert A. Smith
Executive Vice President

Susie's Cause at AARP Vegas@50+
Basking in the attention given to renowned designer Carmen Marc
Valvo's featured fashion show, Mr. Valvo and Susie's Cause were
tremendously successful in getting out the message calling for
more colon cancer screening and the options for early detection.
Organizers of this year's annual AARP meeting, Vegas@50+,
invited Mr. Valvo, a colon cancer survivor, and Susie's Cause to
host a fashion show featuring some of his most beautiful
designs.

Tips to Colon Cancer Prevention this holiday!
Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season, spending
time with family and loved ones and eating lots of great, and
not always so healthy, food.
According to the American Cancer Society, 1/3 of all cancer
deaths this year will be related to lifestyle, including poor
eating habits, inactivity, and obesity. But you can still enjoy
Thanksgiving and be healthy by making the right choices.

The Colon Cancer Foundation was founded in 2004, and received
501(c) (3) status on January 19, 2005. The President of the
Foundation, David Rodman Cohan, an international business
attorney, vigorously launched this Foundation after the tragic
loss of his daughter Susan Cohan to colon cancer. Susan is
survived by her two young children.
The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation will work to eliminate
colon cancer as a life threatening disease through the
development and dissemination of educational programs focused on
prevention, early screening and detection, and aggressive
therapeutic intervention.
