Susie's Cause: The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation
MAY 2010
Hello,

Thank you to the over 400 attendees who attended the Second Annual Memories Gala in April. It was truly a night to remember. Not only did everyone rave about all aspects of the event, but we also successfully set the stage for this magnificent event to continue for decades to come. The night was a reminder of what is possible when the very best of intentions, support, passion, and caring meets the highest of purposes.

Susies Cause National Colon Cancer Screening Month officially wrapped up in April, but that just means it is time to take what we learned and put it into practice. There is still time to join our new Facebook Cause page and make a difference. By joining the cause and sharing the page with friends, you can participate in helping us educate others and generate donations across the country for Susies Cause!

Thank you,

Robert A. Smith
Executive Vice President

P.S. Your support today and every day makes a difference. Make a tax-deductible donation to Susie's Cause here today!

Dr. Fuhrman's Insights
VITAMIN D MAY PROTECT AGAINST COLON CANCER
Vitamin D insufficiency is widespread, and is now thought to contribute to a variety of disease states, including osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, depression, and cancers.

Researchers analyzed data from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study, which has over 520,000 participants.  Blood levels of vitamin D, which were measured at the start of the study, were compared between 1248 colorectal cancer patients and matched controls after diagnosis. A GALA TO REMEMBER
The 2nd Annual Susie's Cause National Colon Cancer Screening Month dinner dance was simply perfect. We take great pride that in these unparalleled economic times over four hundred guests enjoyed the very best of entertainment, food, friendship, and purpose. In attendance were business and political leaders, our valued medical sponsors, hospital administrators, respected physicians and scores of old friends and new. Our most important guests, of course, were the many men and women who have lost the people closest to them and patients fighting the battle of their lives. Thank you to everyone who attended!

About Susie's Cause
The Colon Cancer Foundation was founded in 2004, and received 501(c) (3) status on January 19, 2005. The President of the Foundation, David Rodman Cohan, an international business attorney, vigorously launched this Foundation after the tragic loss of his daughter Susan Cohan to colon cancer. Susan is survived by her two young children.

The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation will work to eliminate colon cancer as a life threatening disease through the development and dissemination of educational programs focused on prevention, early screening and detection, and aggressive therapeutic intervention.
