Capacity Turnout Drives Successful Tournament

As the sun set on our Second Annual Susie’s Cause Charity Golf Classic it was a day that was truly too beautiful for words. Everyone in attendance knew that they were part of something very special. We were so proud to host professional golfers Woody Austin and John Rollins who graciously shared their insights and experience with the enthusiastic participants. We want to thank Kendel Ehrlich, the former First Lady of Maryland and our Honorary Chairperson for her gracious support. Everyone appreciated her participation and enjoyed her warmth and passion for our mission. We were equally honored to have two Title partners, Quidel Corporation and Sandler Training, who generously contributed to the day's success and Foundation sponsors M&T Bank and Strickland Fire Protection. We want to honor the numerous special guests who have lost their loved ones to colon cancer and also recognize the many volunteers who put in a long day to make this event so special.

The 32 Foursomes started the morning with a very enlightening clinic led by PGA Pros Woody Austin and John Rollins. John and Woody described some of their experiences on the tour and gave advice on the mental aspects of the game. The golfers made good use of the opportunity by asking great questions that the Pro's willingly answered with some realistic suggestions to improve their game.

After the lively Q & A the golfers turned their attention to the delicious picnic lunch provided by our wonderful sponsors. Under blue skies and bright sunshine the foursomes roared off to a shotgun start on the beautiful Clustered Spires Course. The course was in excellent condition and many golfers remarked on its attractiveness and playability. While on the course the golfers were treated to visits by Kendel, Woody and John who offered encouragement and tips for their play. Thanks to our great volunteers the players were well supplied with refreshments on all Par 3 holes. Afterwards the golfers enjoyed a great surf and turf dinner and awards ceremony that capped a fantastic day.

Several guests commented that they attend many events for a wide variety of charities but "none that are run like this". A large measure of credit for this goes to Dave Mattson and the team from the leading sales training organization Sandler Training and Debbie Williams from The Patty Pollatos Fund who gave from their hearts to make this event a reality.

It was a perfect day!
