Third Annual Memories Gala:
A Night to Remember

The Third Annual Susie’s Cause National Colon Cancer Screening Month dinner dance was simply perfect. We take great pride that in these unparalled economic times over four hundred guests enjoyed the very best of entertainment, food, friendship, and purpose. Everyone raved throughout the evening about every aspect of the event. In attendance were business and political leaders, hospital administrators, respected physicians and scores of old friends and new. Our most important guests, of course were the many grieving men and women who have lost the people closest to them and patients fighting the battle of their lives. There is no greater reminder of the purpose of what we do than to meet the patients that we have been honored to provide guidance and medical care in cities across the United States.
It was deeply satisfying to celebrate six years of the hard work and a time to reflect on the blessings that we have received over these years. Our Foundation has firmly established itself as the leader in the prevention of colon cancer, with colon cancer in the United States experiencing the greatest reduction in death rates of all cancers since we began.
It was wonderful to share the personal pride of the Cohan family in memory and love for Susan as she certainly was smiling down on all of us last night. Jack Serio, Barry Blank, Dr. Howard Berg, and a team of highly dedicated Board Members graciously gave of their hearts and there valuable time to ensure the success of the evening. We honored our featured guests Kevin and Jill Kamenetz as Honorary Chairpersons for their support of our event and dear friend and Board Member Mike Goglia received the first Outstanding Achievement Award for his extraordinary dedication and support of the Foundation. Attendees also included Marie Cardona and Josh Menache, joining us from California and Missouri each committed to hosting similar events in their respective cities. Last night we set the stage for this magnificent event to continue for decades to come in cities across the United States.
Today we go back to work as our Board begins to plan on our Annual Race and Golf Weekend. Our Washington Post and Delta airlines educational inserts will reach millions of readers continuing to focus on Susie’s Cause Screening Month.
The Foundation will launch another groundbreaking event in Baltimore on April 30th with the launch of our National Health Fair Tour for Underserved Communities.
Rarely in life does reality meet expectations, but last night was a reminder of what is possible when the very best of intentions , passion, and caring meets the highest of purposes.
Thank you
